Biljana Milovanovic, a native of Belgrade , Serbia , began piano studies at the age of six at the Mokranjac music school for gifted children. She holds four first prizes in the Serbian State and Yugoslavian National piano competitions.
She began her performance career at the age of 15 under sponsorship of the Concert Management Association “Jeunesses Musicales” and has performed both as a soloist and chamber musician in Serbia , Croatia , Macedonia , Russia , Estonia , Lithuania , Ukraine , Belgium , Canada , Switzerland , Italy , Spain , and the United States . Ms. Milovanovic graduated from the world renowned Conservatory “Rimsky- Korsakov” in St-Petersburg , Russia under full scholarship where she studied piano with Professor L. Vakhina and chamber music with professors G. Serova and Z. Zohova.
She has performed in numerous master classes for such renowned pianists as Leon Fleisher, John Perry, Andre Laplante and Jean-Paul Sevilla, as well as performing for some of the world’s top chamber musicians including the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio, the Paris Trio and the Guarneri Quartet.
Ms. Milovanovic has performed in international festivals such as Orford International Music Festival, Festival Miami, Belgrade International Harpsichord Festival, and the “White Nights” Festival in St.Petersburg, Russia. Her performances can be heard on many public radio stations in the United States, as well as on TV and radio in Europe.
Ms. Milovanovic completed her doctoral studies in Chamber Music performance at the University of Miami Frost School of Music where she studied chamber music with Prof. Paul Posnak and piano with Prof. J. B. Floyd. She served on faculty at Barry University, University of Miami and is an active teacher and clinician for the Florida Piano Federation.
Parallel to her performing career as a pianist, Ms. Milovanovic is also a harpsichordist. She received the 2002 Duane Wilder Award for Excellence in Harpsichord Performance and performs harpsichord regularly in North America and Europe. Collaborations include performances of the Bach’s Double and Triple Concerti with renowned harpsichordist and scholar Frank Cooper, the Bergonzi String Quartet, and the St. George Chamber Players.
Ms. Milovanovic is the founding member of the Ibis Camerata. Her interest in contemporary music led to collaboration with many composers, notably Dennis Kam and Lancing McLoskey on the CD ”Glisten” and Eric Ewazen on the latest CD “Sculpting Clouds”.
