Gregory Chudzick
double bass

A native of Hartford, Connecticut now living in Brooklyn, Greg Chudzik performs in a variety of freelance performance engagements throughout the New York City area, ranging from jazz to heavy metal to classical music. While studying music in Rochester, NY, Greg played in a number of ensembles both inside and outside of school, including performance environments as varied as improvised klezmer-rock concerts at a club to performances at the Rochester Jazz Festival to contemporary music concert series at the University of Buffalo.

You can hear Greg's original compositions featured in his group Greg Chudzik's Trophy Wives, a quartet featuring alto saxophone, electric guitar, double bass and drumset that borrows equally from the jazz, rock, and improvised music tradition. In January of 2007, the Trophy Wives completed their first album, which is scheduled to be released by the fall of 2008. Greg also plays electric bass with the self-described "free-jazz-math-rock" band Abacus. When he's not performing with these ensembles, Greg maintains an active playing schedule performing jazz music with many of New York City's finest rising musicians.

Greg graduated from the Eastman School of Music in 2006 with a Bachelor of Music in both Jazz Studies and Applied Music. In 2005, he was the winner of the Koussevitsky Concerto Competition at Eastman and was selected to perform the concerto with the school's chamber orchestra. In the summer of 2008, Greg attended both the Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival in North Adams, MA and the Lucerne Summer Music Festival Academy in Lucerne, Switzerland.
