Praised by the Swiss newspaper Le Nouvelliste for his “impressive, masterful finesse,” Ari Isaacman-Beck won the Second Prize and Children’s Jury Award in the 2006 Sion-Valais (formerly Tibor Varga) International Violin Competition, and the Scharff Prize in Violin from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Mr. Isaacman-Beck has performed as a soloist with the Lithuanian State Symphony under Shlomo Mintz, the Cleveland Bach Consort, Minnetonka Symphony, and the MacPhail Orchestra. His performances have also taken him to the Tonhalle in Zürich; various venues in Sion, Switzerland; and to Connecticut, Maine, New York, and Ohio. Isaacman-Beck’s solo performances have been broadcast on Cleveland’s WCLV Classical Radio Station, KSJN Minnesota Public Radio, WVIZ (Cleveland Public Television), and on the nationally distributed cable television program, “Music da Camera.”
Mr. Isaacman-Beck has served as Concertmaster of the Juilliard Chamber Orchestra, the Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra, and the Minnesota Youth Symphony. As a chamber musician, he has studied under members of the Brentano, Cavani, Cleveland, and Juilliard String Quartets. Festival Appearances include Kneisel Hall, ENCORE School for Strings, and the Aspen Music Festival and School. Academically, Mr. Isaacman-Beck was Valedictorian of Breck School in Minneapolis, a National Merit Scholar, and received numerous awards from Breck and CIM in Spanish, math, and overall scholastic achievement. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree at the Juilliard School as a full scholarship student of Ronald Copes.
