Ryan Walsh

Ryan Walsh is a student and freelancing oboist in New York City. He has played with many orchestras in New York and Washington State including the Yakima Symphony, Wenatchee Symphony, Camerata New York, Bronx Orchestra, Bronx Opera, Bermuda Philharmonic and Greenwich Village Orchestra. Ryan is a founding member of Ensemble 212 and has appeared as soloist playing Haydn's Sinfonia Concertante and Bach's Concerto for Oboe and Violin.
In 2007, Ryan was chosen as the English horn soloist of the Festival Ensemble Stuttgart orchestra conducted by Helmut Rilling, playing Britten's War Requiem and Mahler's Symphony No. 5 on a tour of Germany. In 2008, Ryan was again invited to attend Festival Ensemble Stuttgart, playing oboe, oboe d'amore and English horn on Bach's St. Matthew Passion under Helmut Rilling. Also in 2008, Ryan traveled to Mexico with Cultures in Harmony to work with oboists from Mexico City's youth orchestra program.
Ryan received his Bachelor's Degree in 2006 from the Mannes College of Music where he studied with Thomas Stacy, the English horn soloist of the New York Philharmonic. He is currently working toward his Master's Degree at Mannes and is studying with Sherry Sylar, the Associate Principal oboe of the New York Philharmonic. Ryan has participated in masterclasses given by Thomas Stacy, Eugene Izotov, Elaine Douvas, Sherry Sylar, Robert Botti and Liang Wang.
