David Bousso, an emerging orchestral, chamber, and solo violinist, has performed extensively with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra for the past five summers. Under the direction of Daniel Barenboim, he has toured internationally in Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Israel, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Argentina, Brazil, and the United States. The orchestra made an appearance at the prestigious Salzburg Festival in Austria.

Bousso has been a strong advocate for contemporary music, performing with numerous ensembles in the United States. He performed in Boulez’ Notations with the National Orchestral Institute in Maryland, and has played contemporary music from the Americas with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas. He was also highly involved with contemporary music at Mannes, performing in the New York debut of Jennifer Hidgdon’s Concerto for Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. In addition to performing many works by student and faculty members at Mannes, Bousso also played works by Bright Sheng and Chen Yi.

Bousso received Bachelor and Master’s degrees from Mannes College, The New School for Music. His teachers included Lewis Kaplan and Todd Phillips of the Orion String Quartet. Before studying at Mannes, Bousso studied with Grigory Kalinovsky at the Mannhattan School of Music’s Pre-College Division.
