Australian born violinist Alexandra Osborne began musical studies at the age of four and made her debut four years later at the Sydney Opera House. She has since appeared in concert with all of the major Australian orchestras, the Auckland Philharmonia, the SBS Radio & Television Orchestra (of which she was also Concertmaster), and the South Bend Symphony, with whom she made her US solo debut in 2004. Since winning a substitute position in 2005, Ms. Osborne has performed regularly with The Philadelphia Orchestra, including the 2006 tour to Florida and Puerto Rico, and its own chamber music series in Philadelphia. She also performs as a member of the New York based Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players, The Philly Pops, the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia and in the Spring of 2008 served as Concertmaster for the Juilliard Chamber Orchestra’s performances of Schoenberg’s Verklarte Nacht.

A gold medalist of the 1999 Symphony Australia Young Performers Award, Ms. Osborne is also a laureate of the 2001 Michael Hill International Violin Competition and has been awarded 1st prizes in the Gisborne (New Zealand) International and the Australian National Concerto Competitions. An avid chamber musician, she has appeared at the Taos, Pan Pacific, Kneisel Hall and Sarasota Music Festivals, and was also recently featured in Symphony magazine. She was recently engaged to perform with contralto Meredith Arwady on a Philadelphia Chamber Music Society recital, and has given numerous chamber music premiere performances as part of both the University of Pennsylvania and the University of the Arts Composition programs. She has also been signed to the progressive classical music collective Arts in Motion, a collaboration of beat-driven classical remixes, mainstream pop music, and music visualization projects.

Hailing from Sydney and a non-musician family, Ms. Osborne moved to the USA in 2001. In 2006 she graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree from The Curtis Institute of Music, where she studied with Pamela Frank, Aaron Rosand and Joseph Silverstein. Ms. Osborne’s study at Curtis was made possible with financial assistance from The Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust through its overseas music scholarship program. She is currently completing a Master of Music at The Juilliard School with Ronald Copes.
