The Mimesis Ensemble released Dancing Circles in the Night, on Arabesque Records on Oct 1, 2020. This recording follows the journey of walking through the night as a foundational metaphor for embracing the fullness of life.

The Mimesis Ensemble's Artistic and Executive Director, Katie Reimer, released her debut solo piano CD on Arabesque Records in 2016.  The CD features works by J.S. Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, Philip Glass, and the debut recording of Mohammed Fairouz’s Piano Sonata No. 2, “The Last Resistance.”

SUMEIDA’S SONG

The Mimesis Ensemble released their debut CD on Bridge Records, featuring Mohammed Fairouz's opera, Sumeida's Song, for orchestra and 4 singers.  The opera is based on Tawfiq al-Hakim's play "Song of Death", a classic in Arab theater.  Conducted by Scott Dunn, this recording features Jo Ellen Miller (soprano), Rachel Calloway (mezzo-soprano), Robert Mack (tenor), and Mischa Bouvier (baritone).   Opera News selected this disc for their Dazzling Dozen best releases of 2013, calling Mimesis Ensemble's performance "very impressive."

CRITICAL MODELS

Several Mimesis Ensemble musicians are featured on this album, with chamber works by Mohammed Fairouz. Released in 2011 by Sono Luminus, this album was selected by WQXR as their Q2 Album of the Week. Dan Merceruio received a Grammy nomination in the category of Classical Producer of the Year for his work on this album.
